Is thirst the only sign of dehydration?

Most people believe that a dry mouth is the only sign of dehydration.  The human body has many other sophisticated signals to indicate when it is short of water.   We are so dependent on water for efficient functioning that a dry mouth could not be the only signal of a shortage. Deep dehydration can occur without the person concerned even feeling thirsty.  In fact by the time thirst occurs, many other delicate functions of the body are preparing to shut down.A dehydrated body will be less able to perform sophisticated functions and carry on everyday life.
