Water, Weightloss and Detox

Incredibly, water is not only the single most important component of your diet, it also makes a massive contribution to weight loss. It is fat free, cholesterol free and calorie free.  Its role is that of an appetite supressant, helping the body metabolise stored fat and reduce water retention by stimulating the kidneys.

Studies have shown that a decrease in water consumption will cause fat deposits to increase…here’s why: the kidneys function less efficiently without water and when this happens some of their workload is transferred to the liver, which has to work overtime.  As one of the liver’s functions is to metabolise stored fat into usable energy, if it is operating at less than optimum functionality less fat will be metabolised and weight loss will slow.

Fluid retention is often misunderstood. It is caused by the body’s need for water rather than by an intakte of too much water.  When the body feels it is in a drought situation it begins to store water in cellular spaces resulting in swollen hands and feet.  The way to treat a water retention problem is to replenish its water in plentiful supply, stimulating the kidneys and allowing stored water to be released.

Water plays other key roles in weight loss and detox:

  • it helps to maintain muscle tone
  • it helps to prevent  sagging skin caused by fat loss and cellular dehydration, leading to a plumper healthier appearance
  • it assists greatly in the flushing out of metabolised fat
  • it helps cure constipation as it replenishes the colon allowing normal bowel functions.

Dieting and detox don’t have be difficult and laborious. Water will do the job for you.
