Pure Eau sees water shortage as a challenge

It is a deadly combination – population growth, no water and depleting food reserves. These are the new challenges facing the Middle East after the political unrest. Lester Brown wrote an eye opening article explaining the sheer scale of the concerns within the Middle East. The Guardian 22/4/11 www.guardian.co.uk
Pure Eau understands the need to enjoy pure drinking water and how essential it is with regards to staying healthy. Our water coolers and water filters provides you with water which has been filtered using reverse osmosis to ensure the water you and your family drink is totally pure.
For many years fossil aquifers (underground water bearing rocks) have been essential in the produce of grain production, allowing Saudis to no longer import grain and be virtually self-sufficient. The Aquifers are virtually now depleted and unlike most aquifers do not recharge naturally from rainfall. The Saudi’s have had to admit that they may harvest their last wheat crop in 2012, and once again be dependent upon imported grain to feed their population of almost 30 million. The rapid decline in wheat farming cannot even be retrieved from the desalted sea water the country uses to supply its cities as it is too costly to use for irrigation. It appears even the Saudi’s are feeling the economical pinch. Pure Eau understands how important it is to have access to pure drinking water. Our water is filtered through reverse osmosis to allow you and your family to enjoy pure drinking water which has had all the contaminants removed.
The growing problem of food insecurity has forced Saudi to buy land in other countries which include two of the poorest and hungriest - Sudan and Ethiopia. They plan to produce food for themselves with the land and water resources to augment their fast growing imports. Yemen is also feeling the pressure. With the fastest growing population, residents are badly affected. In the capital, they only have access to tap water once every four days. In Taiz, a smaller city to the south, it is once every 20 days. Replenishable aquifers are being pumped beyond the ability to recharge, with the deeper fossil aquifers also depleting. Water tables are rapidly falling, and with grain harvest shrinking one-third over the last 40 years. Almost 60% of its children are physically stunted and chronically undernourished and is already a failing state now rowing over whatever meager water resources remain. We are fortunate in the UK to have unlimited supplies of water. Just ensure the water you drink is from Pure Eau – our water coolers and filters provide you will all you need for optimum health.
