Drip, drip, drip no little April Showers - Pure Eau looks at driest April on record

The weather experts stated April was the hottest on record in England and Wales, with rainfall at just 21% of its usual levels according to the Guardian (www.guardian.co.uk 3/5/11)  So without regular rain, hot days, dry heathland it often spells one thing – fire. Forest regeneration Projects like the one in  Kintail, Scotland, have been badly affected which has been devastating. Ireland, North-wet England, Scottish Highlands have also experienced similar problems with flames fanned by the high winds over the bank holiday weekend. Water is essential to everyone, and when our rivers and reservoirs are running low it is a worry when it comes to ensuring the nation has enough to drink, and our rescue services have enough water to put out the fires which can cause so much devastation over a short period of time. Pure Eau provides drinking water through our water filters and water coolers to allow you the luxury of enjoying as much pure drinking water as you like.
Over six people and a dog had to be airlifted by helicopter as wildfires swept across the Scottish Highlands over the long weekend, engulfing 9 sq miles. The blaze was one of at least 29 fires across the north-west Highlands. Around 150 firefighters have been involved in tackling the fire at Torridon, in Western Ross, where a helicopter was used to water bomb the site. Fires at Torridon and Kintail are said to be under control but flames are leaping up to 40ft high. Water is essential in the battle against calming down the fires but what happens if there is a shortage of water like there has been of late due to the warm weather? Here at Pure Eau we understand the importance of water. Our water coolers and water filters remove all the contaminants out of water to ensure you drink nothing but pure water through a process called reverse osmosis. Even the RNLI lifeboat has been getting involved in the rescues. A  27-year-old woman had been saved by the lifeboat when her campsite had been encircled by fires in the remote western tip of the Ardnish peninsula, Loch Ailort. Fire crews attempted to control two fires in Lancashire that started over the hot weekend, as well as tackling moor fires on Anglezarke moor and Wheeton moor in Lancashire since Friday. The Lancashire fire service said this was one of the longest periods of time crews had spent combating such fires in recent years. A team of 50 firefighters, working on rotation, have been using beaters and spraying water on the flames and smoldering ground at Belmont, Bacup and Ormskirk. The fires spread across several square miles each, and at one point over the bank holiday weekend, 32 fire engines from the 39 stations in the county were out on calls. Crews from Merseyside, Greater Manchester and West Yorkshire were also involved in tackling the fires, which were fanned by winds of up to 45mph. Pure Eau praise the emergency staff during these stressful times. Water is crucial in helping to save lives as well as being the elixir of life. Make sure you drink your eight glasses of pure water from our water coolers and water filters to ensure optimum health.
