Spain’s Tomatoes in need of Pure Eau hydration

Whilst the UK is enjoying a warm spell, Spain it appears, seems to be experiencing a few downpours affecting tomato crops. Completely out of season, heavy downpours have prevented Spanish farmers from planting which has put back this year’s tomato season. This has a dramatic affect on exporting, and experts predict a possible rocket in tomato prices. Processed tomato products including puree and juice are also likely to be affected. While Pure Eau are busy installing water coolers so that office workers and home users can drink pure, chilled water, in the key growing area of Extremadura, volumes of growth are expected to be down by 22% year-on-year to 1.38 millions tons, and the Andalucía region is expecting a 35% drop to 312,000 tons. Across Europe, crops are down generally, and prices have shot up by 61% already as the unfavourable weather is affecting shelf life consistency. Whilst the farmers are worrying in the UK how they are going to irrigate their crops this May due to the predicted warm weather, farmers in Spain are wishing the downpour would stop. Water is crucial for hydration and here at Pure Eau we know the importance of insuring crops receive just the amount of pure water to produce a healthy crop. Our water coolers and water filters also ensure that we drink enough water to also keep us hydrated through the summer months.
Pure Eau wonders what will happen to the famous ‘La Tomatina tomato fight’ which happens in Bunol near Valencia every year on the last Wednesday in August. The highlight of the festival is the tomato fight which takes place between 11-am and 1pm on that day – this could be a major problem if tomatos are scarce. This event has become one of the highlights on Spain’s summer festivals calendar with thousands of people flocking to this little Valencia town for this chaotic event. The event brings in tourism but what happens if it has to be cancelled? I expect event organizers are becoming just a little nervous. Maybe they could have a water fight instead due to the recent downpour? Pure Eau loves water. We love it so much we insist it is totally purified so our water coolers and water filters have been through the reverse osmosis process ensuring all the water you drink is totally pure and nothing
So whilst we enjoy our warm summer, we hope the Spanish farmer’s tomato season will flourish and they receive the rainfall they need to produce a healthy crop. Pure Eau has a solution – grow your own tomatoes!  Why wait to see how much prices will be when we are likely to have the perfect weather for growing them ourselves in the UK this summer? Just ensure you water them properly with plenty of pure water and enjoy the fruits of your labour!
