Pure Eau applauds water quality project in Weston-Super-Mare
A £26m project aimed at improving the quality of sea water at Weston-Super-Mare is beginning in May 2011. Brean Down lies between Weston-super-Mare and Burnham-on-sea and is considered to be one of the most dramatic landmarks on the Somerset coastline according to the Somerset Tourist Board. The coastal headland extends 1.5 miles into the Bristol Channel, Wessex water aim to have the work completed by December 2013, in time for the new revised Bathing Water directive which is being implemented in 2015 aimed at ensuring sewage returned to the sea is clean enough to meet legislation. Currently, the levels at Weston and nearby Uphill are considered to be acceptable but if the same water samples taken today were to be used in 2015, the quality of the water would be classed as ‘poor’. Pure Eau understands all about the importance of water quality. Our water coolers and water filters use a process called ‘Reverse Osmosis’ which ensures you only drink clean, pure water which is free from contaminants.
The work carried out will include increasing the secondary treatment and ultraviolet disinfection capacity of the plant. It will also include increasing storm water capacity which should reduce sewage being discharged into rivers and the sea during heavy rainfall. Wessex water stated that the main aim is to ensure they have done everything possible to improve water quality to make sure local beaches remain designated bathing waters to ensure tourists visit the North Somerset area which supports the local economy substantially. If our seas and rivers are polluted then naturally we become sick. Pure Eau applauds Wessex Water in implementing changes and no doubt many other water companies will have to quickly follow suit to meet the requirements and new legislation in 2015. Pure Eau provides nothing but pure water and our water coolers andwater filters ensure you drink as much water as you need.
Water quality is essential for total well being. Pure Eau recommends you drink at least 8 glasses of pure water every day to achieve maximum health benefits. Our water coolers and water filters allow you drink pure water all summer long.
