A town wiped off the planet for ever.

The Japanese town wiped off the planet

The town of Rikuzentakata in Japan has been wiped off the earth and no longer exists. Pure Eau recognizes this as just another devastating reminder of the harsh reality of Mother-Natures ability to take away from the planet as much as she gives. We cannot imagine how debilitating it must be to exist without the basic needs of pure water to drink, food to feed our families, shelter, warmth and medical supplies. We are so fortunate in the UK that Pure Eau’s water coolers and water filters are able to provide the nation with pure drinking water free from contaminants. Unfortunately, the Japanese people do not have the same luxury.
The Mercy Corps rescue heroes reported how they began to see the muddy debris affecting the town more than five kilometers from the coast, where the Tsunami had swept up river and spilled over the banks, destroying everything it crossed. Piles of wreckage either side had reached the height of the roof of the cars. Directly in front of them was a wide flat area which was once the town of Rikuzentakata. Only the occasional few high buildings had been left. In areas cleaned of debris, they could make out flat concrete foundations among the sand and mud. The whole area smelled of having been very quickly and very thoroughly soaked in brackish water. Pure Eau understand the dangers to health with contaminated water. All our drinking water has been through Reverse Osmosis. This is a process when water is forced through a semi-permeable membrane that traps particulates.  The membrane is made of a dense polymer layer of microscopic thickness which allows only pure water to pass through, effectively filtering it of almost 100% of Total Dissolved Solids (TDS).
The navigation system the team used turned down roads which no longer existed and indicated convenience stores once known as significant landmarks but were now razed to the ground. A five-story building displayed curtains in the untouched windows on the fifth floor. Everything below had been washed by the ocean's water. The school now serves as an evacuation center. In front of it are several rows of neat white one-story structures which are the first 36 temporary houses which had been completed in less than a month after the disaster. Flat screen TVs, microwaves, rice cookers, fridges, washing machines and air conditioners had already been installed. Each temporary house even has its own mailbox. The 36 homes cover a mere 1% of the need for housing in Rikuzentakata alone. Although the homes have been built very quickly, future construction will be slowed by lack of land availability. Peace Winds Japan partners are supporting the move to temporary housing by providing kitchen sets, bedclothes and other basic necessities when people move in.  Initially, prospects for an economic recovery project looked bleak with no shops operating in Rikuzentakata due to everything being washed away. Many vehicles are missing and there are severe gasoline shortages. Not only evacuees but even those people whose houses were on high ground and dependent on food distributions are all affected simply because there had been nowhere else to find groceries. Eventually, goods and food supplies from another store a few towns away, had set up a tent and small prefab room for selling. Apparently just finding the land to set up the tent on was difficult, since most of the flat land had been overrun by the wave and most of the land in the hills was privately owned and closely covered by houses. Finally a doctor had offered his garden for the use of the store, and subdued families came in a trickle to buy basic goods.
Pure Eau takes it hat off to the Japanese people who have showed dignity and resourcefulness despite losing everything they have. Pure Eau offers a solution to all your water needs. Our water coolers and water filters supply your business and home with unlimited supplies of fresh pure drinking water which has been through the Reverse Osmosis process.
